Highway shooting | 3 teenagers killed in accident | Northern lights

LOS ANGELES, CA – As the weekend comes to a close, we’ve rounded up some of the stories you may have missed on Saturday and Sunday to get you ready for Monday.

The main attraction this weekend was the extremely rare appearance of the Northern Lights, which could be seen as far away as Florida due to an extremely rare solar storm. Many parts of the Southland were cloudy Friday and Saturday, but people in the San Gabriel Valley, Riverside County and the east were treated to a once-in-a-lifetime spectacle of dancing green and pink lights.

In much sadder news, three people were killed and three injured in a serious accident near Pasadena that killed three people ages 18 to 21 and knocked out power in the Pasadena area.

A 19-year-old was also shot on the 10 Freeway near San Dimas. Some reports suggest the victim was killed by a biker. The shooting led to a SigAlert that closed all eastbound lanes of the 10 for several hours.

The drama surrounding the pro-Palestinian protests on campus continued. UCLA declared “normal operations” after two weeks of disruption and encampment dismantling, and a man was arrested for “erratic behavior” at a protest camp on the UC Irvine campus.
